Race The Sun

Race the Sun had many inspiring moments..A bunch of losers in school who have never completed anything in life set out to make a solar car to compete and win...
The best scene of that movie was when this bunch of losers are told by the prof look u guys cant complete shit go home. They dont they try making the solar car fail the first time...All the other guys go away....This fat guy sits on hte failed car...looks here and there..prof comes in says go away.. He says "No"..Prof says what...He says "No Im not getting up from this car...im going to figure this out...I am not leaving until I do....."In life yeah the journey matters much more than the destimation. Honestly ask urself this question "Am I willing to sit on it till I get it done"....The thing abt life I guess is whether u r willing to subjectur body/mind to the max of its capacity to a level where the "guy" up there in the sky looks down (God) and says shit f---, this guy has exceeded/over exceeded his capacity.....Andguess what surprise him by showing him u can do more than tht too..Like the guy said in Rocky "Get up u can last one more round." Life always has one more round.....

A Stud!!!!!!!

Muthyala Raju tops IAS....

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2046252.cms

Raju was in the ECE department at IISc. The whole department knew he was more interested in becoming an IAS officer than he was a technologist.

He didn't study the courses there. He didn'e need to. He did well without studying much. He had unbelievable grit. He studied for 15 days for the IES examination and topped it. He took railways as a backup and went for the IAS.

While he was doing all this, he published two research papers in IISc. As has been stated in a million articles already, he was the son of a farmer. But then IISc is not a place where the rich hobnob a lot. It is full of people like him. People with amazing determination and most of the times it's not for the money. This coming from someone like myself who went for an MBA does not sound genuine but I was an oddball.

Raju is an inspiration for all of us. He is a man who will bring justice to the job cause when you've been on the other side, you know where the pain comes from. The grit comes partly from his sister's death. When people like this take to administration of the country, it's time to rejoice. If he wanted money, he could have gotten it anywhere. From IISc to a signal processing job in Texas instruments, HP, Philips. Life they say is all about determination. Salutations to you, Sir. it was an honour sharing the same classroom.

We - the British????

Well 2 weeks in London....and the city does NOT grow on you somehow....It started with a person on a guided tour telling us jokingly we got all of this Im sorry to say from you guys...Yeah, right....
I love my country a lot. Its given me everything...Its given me opportunities, gr8 parents and a culture I believe in...
We have a Mayawati, a Laloo and a Jayalalitha who we are ashamed of...Bt with the bad weve got the good too...Manmohan Singh, Abdul Kalam and who's too say maybe a good Nitish kumar too...
We'll grow. The Bardhans, the yechuris might be a hindrance but we will...
What is my greatest desire in life....Lets see.....

Act 1, Scene 1, 2020 (Vision 2020)
Tour Guide: We got rich from u guys...he he
Me: Yeah we know...
Tour Guide: Yet you guys got back...
Me: We were poised in 2007.....We were on a roller coaster then....It was a matter of time....
Tour Guide: But how the f--- did youll manage it...I mean so many castes, religions...Internal affair management itself must have been something..
Me: We got by...and we grew because we had and we welcomed everyone...
Tour Guide: Well I dont know what to say...First it was Korea, Japan and now you guys..I thought we Brits were the best..
Me: Well welcome to the real world..It sucks..(for you guys)..
Tour guide: I dont know what to say..
Me: Ill teach you what to say...Whenever Indians come along (you know most of them are stinking rich now)...Say Vande Mataram and u might get a few extra hundred pounds who knows...

Love Actually

Its funny how most of the times we think our fears would be resolved if someone shares them. Funny yes true no...Ur fears are yours...Nd unless the person u r talkin abt loves u regardless of who u r he/she will stand by u thru those fears. If he/she loves u becoz u r a grade A software engg, an I-banker or a hi-flying consultant, then him/her leaivng you is ur greatest fear..She does not subside others. She adds on....
A girl chatted with me for two months.....She hadnt met me, seen me r anythin...From the way these chats went, I thot hey maybe there is smethin there...
She told me shes been seeing this guy.....Bt its long distance may not work out so on so forth....Im no Don Juan I fell for it hook, line nd stinker..
Bt wait one of these days I get a call strgh frm the US

Guy: I am --- boyfriend
Me: Ok...Whoah (direct line frm the states)
Guy: Whts goin on
Me: Nothin nothing is
Guy: Ive read ur mails/chats
Me: (Oh crap. The girl arranged for my cemetary. Well if smeone frm the US kills me at least I can say got killed by an NRI) U did
Guy: Yes..I can come down there..
Me: (Lately, whenever I was in IISc, people did not know abt it...I start thinkin hey IIM guys are supposed to be powerful (u take one look at me and that belief will be broken to pieces)..Let me tell him Im from IIM...I get scared when I tell myself that....) Im from an IIM
Guy: So
Me: (shit that backfired)...Ok...What do u want me to do (given up already)
Guy: Stop contacting her. bhi ise bolte hain direct threat) I can come down and meet
Me: Wont scrap her, meet her talk to her...Lets not meet...

Guess that proves that a girl cant relieve/shares ur fears. Shit this one scared me to hell...
Girl's name, guy's name...Does it matter????;)

The Indian Institute of Science

IISc Bangalore is by far teh greatest institute I have ever seen. Well I have seen both IISc and IIMA. But, theres something in IISc. I rever, love and believe that there is no other such institute in India. 1500 people and 90%+ are not studying becoz they have to do it for a job. They are there coz they love the subject so much. Nd that is not something u find everywhere.
IISc is going to celebrate its centenary. A century where the C.V. Ramans, Vikram Sarabhais and Satish Dhawans have led the insti from the front. C.V. Raman once he became the chair of the insti did not want to give it up come what may.....
Next time you are in Bangalore, take an hour off. Ask for Tata Institute and when you reach there take a bow...Also pay my respects. It's been time!

My Profie.....

My ME guide was a prolific publisher. God in one year in my Masters he gave me 12 publications!!!!! He had a PhD student. Now a PhD post 4 years is a dangerous man for both the prof and all other poor people arnd him...IISc is notorious for keeping PhDs for a looooong time. There was a poor guy who had published every which place nd still has taken close to 9+ years for his degree...
Nyways comin back to my profie's PhD student.....Poor fellow. He went to him with a doubt in a paper nd showed him the title and the formulae...the usual crap. My prof saw the paper up-down left right...nd then told him

Prof: I dont understand this. Whose paper is this contact the authors....
Student: Which authors?????
Prof: The first author...
Student: Sir does not respond
Prof:K. Second author
Student: Sir, email bounces
Prof: K, third author
Student: Sir, u r the third author
Prof: God damn this is my paper. Hmmm.I still dont understand.....

God help research!!!!!!!
Disclaimers apply......

MBA post ME

You know the toughest part of doing a god-damn MBA course post an ME is the soft skill part. Ill introsuce myself. Im an ME in Telecom from IISc who decided to randomly give the CAT and got lucky(think so!!!) and made it to the boiling pot IIM Ahmedabad. Now IISc boild ur ass too. But IIMA cooks it good and soft....
Transforming frm an academic to an MBA requires u to understand the books part is crap and the easy part. Tht is what I missed nd suffered a crap load. I came to IIMA nd found a few papers getting me C's. Threw tantrums nd got noticed. The transit to an MBA took 3 months, the 1st sem bt by then it was late!!!!!!!An impression was made nd I stood for the fin club secy nd paid heavily for my past. Learnt wht an MBA needs..........
Nyone can balance a crappy balance sheet...Nd got A's after I settled in too. Bt these grades dont matter crap....Whie IISc taught me work matters IIMA taught me the perception tht u r not working nd like a godsend verythin comes to u matters a hell lot......Nd it does Perception matters a hell lot in life!!!!!!!!!!
