Muthyala Raju tops IAS....
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2046252.cms
Raju was in the ECE department at IISc. The whole department knew he was more interested in becoming an IAS officer than he was a technologist.
He didn't study the courses there. He didn'e need to. He did well without studying much. He had unbelievable grit. He studied for 15 days for the IES examination and topped it. He took railways as a backup and went for the IAS.
While he was doing all this, he published two research papers in IISc. As has been stated in a million articles already, he was the son of a farmer. But then IISc is not a place where the rich hobnob a lot. It is full of people like him. People with amazing determination and most of the times it's not for the money. This coming from someone like myself who went for an MBA does not sound genuine but I was an oddball.
Raju is an inspiration for all of us. He is a man who will bring justice to the job cause when you've been on the other side, you know where the pain comes from. The grit comes partly from his sister's death. When people like this take to administration of the country, it's time to rejoice. If he wanted money, he could have gotten it anywhere. From IISc to a signal processing job in Texas instruments, HP, Philips. Life they say is all about determination. Salutations to you, Sir. it was an honour sharing the same classroom.
